Ohio Fossils Rock!
This program would be a great addition to any fossil unit. The trunk includes local fossils, dichotomous keys, and a probability activity. Students will use dichotomous keys to identity seven local fossils and will roll dice to determine the probability that an organism becomes a fossil. This program is ideal for a 45 minute to 1 hour time frame or can be split into several small time frames.

Our Movin' Groovin' Earth
This program covers all aspects that make our Earth so dynamic. Whether it is the grooves that remain from a glacier, the “settling” of deposition, the fizzing of Chemical Weathering or the moving of soil, our Earth is always changing. In this activity five hands-on science stations will explore weathering, erosion and deposition! This program is ideal for a 45 minute to 1 hour class frame or can be split into several small time frames.

Rock Around the Cycle
The rock cycle is complicated to learn from the sidelines, so in this activity students will become part of the action! In this activity participants will be a part of the rock cycle! Using dice to decide their fate they will change from metamorphic to sedimentary to igneous and back again. This program is ideal for a 30-45 minute time frame.
Supplemental Activity: With the addition of pipe cleaners and 5 different colors of plastic pony beads (black, blue, red, orange and white) students can make their own bracelet as they travel through the rock cycle. Instead of filling out the worksheet as they move from station to station students would add a bead to a pipe cleaner. Once back at seat they could then fill out worksheet using the colors of the beads.
* Supplies for supplemental activities are not included in loaner trunk.

Rock ID with A Dichotomous Key
This activity explores the rock cycle and the properties of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Using a dichotomous key students will be able to identify 20 different rocks as they move through five different stations. This program is ideal for a 45 minute to 1 hour time frame or can be split into several small time frames.

Round and Round the Water Goes
Through this adapted Project WET game, students will become a molecule of water, using dice to decide their fate, and travel through their own water cycle. Along the way, they will understand the concepts of evaporation, condensation, precipitation and transpiration. This program is ideal for a 30-45 minute time frame.
Supplemental Activity: With the addition of pipe cleaners and 9 different colors of plastic pony beads (white, purple, green, black, blue, pink, yellow, orange and red) students can make their own bracelet as they travel through the water cycle. Instead of filling out the worksheet as they move from station to station students would add a bead to a pipe cleaner. Once back at seat they could then fill out worksheet using the colors of the beads.
